Far Reaching Impact
We at Champaign Rotary have made an impact in many lives across the globe.
Here are a few examples.
Providing Water In Kenya
We drilled a water well project for Faulu Academy in Kenya, which we call, “Esther’s Well,” after Dr. Esther Ngumbi, who started this school with her parents.

We heard that this school had no water, so we went to work. The video to the left shows the first day the children had clean water.

Malawi and Kenya
Kenya survival gardening workshop sponsored by Champaign Rotary trained people to make compost, construct raised planting beds and use drip irrigation.

One participant, Doreen said,

“I will raise my own vegetables instead of buying at the market”.

Rotary Open World Exchange with Lithuania
Champaign Rotary hosted six educators from Lithuania in February of 2025. These people were passionate advocates for accessibility in education and were here in Champaign-Urbana to explore and learn from the many schools and organizations that we visited.
A tremendous experience for everyone involved, as we deeply enjoyed getting to know our new friends from Lithuania.

Rotary Service Trip in Guadalajara, Mexico
A small group of Champaign Rotary members traveled to Guadalajara, Mexico to work in four schools for a week.
Various construction projects, providing clean water, vision clinics, and other projects brought hope to children in very poor areas of the city. We worked with local Guadalajara Rotary Clubs and other clubs in the USA to maximize resources and impact.
Over 10,000 people were the beneficiaries of our work that week. Truly a transformational experience for our members who were on that trip.
